Arranging Your Child's Back-to-School Carpool

You need a new way to get your child from home in the morning to school. A neighborhood carpool is the perfect solution for many Shrewsbury parents: you don't have to drive every day, but you know your kids are in good hands.

When arranging a carpool with fellow parents, first take stock of how many kids will need rides, and how much space each parent's car has. Did you spring for the third-row-seat option on your Kia Sorento? Make sure you never agree to drive more children than your car has room for!

You'll also want to know how many booster seats you will need. Children who are not tall enough for the seatbelt to fit correctly will all need booster cushions in order to ride safely.

Once you have taken inventory, you can start to plan schedules, discuss the rules of the carpool, and exchange contact information. Chauffeuring students isn't always easy, but it's a great way to get everyone's children to school on time, and a great way to build a sense of community.
