When we say Rondo we are not referring to the
Celtics player, Rajon Rondo, but to the long lost Kia Rondo mini-van type CUV.
This seven seat "Van-U-V" if you will, was a strong player for the Kia community. But 2010 Kia pulled the plug to help rebrand the company's image resulting in a slew of new models including the Kia Forte.
Most Kia drivers in the Shrewsbury area would be on Kia's side saying that the sacrifice was well worth the risk.
Since Kia achieved their aggressive goals they have even put their hand in the luxury vehicle ring with the creation of the Kia Quoris. Now there has been some talk of the Rondo making a comeback to the lineup.
What makes us say this?
A while ago, official spy shots were released that show the Rondo sporting a contemporary, new front grill; redesigned head- and tail lamps; more dramatic sculpting; and double air intakes on the hood. More recently, teaser images of Rondo's cousin, the Carens (set to debut in September), were released, further underscoring an imminent comeback of the Rondo stateside.
While not etched in stone; it makes sense. Why not extend the wild success 2011-2012 Kia models have met by extending the automaker's revitalized design and technology prowess to past models?
