Hyundai and Kia (who share a parent company) contend that mileage issues resulted from errors during the "coast-down" testing process, which was conducted at a mutual vehicle plant in South Korea.
Jesse Toprak, Senior Analyst at TrueCar, said of the impact this could have on the brand, "However, even with the correction, the fundamentals of what made Hyundai and Kia brands a success in the U.S. do not change. They still offer some of the best value propositions in the industry, along with attractive styling and low cost of ownership."1
