Let's flashback to 2014 for a minute, and take a look at the GT4 Stinger concept that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, way back when.
If your brain forgot this flashy and feisty concept amid the jumble of other Kia ideas--however awesome or cheesy--let this video serve as a quick refresh.
Refreshing, indeed. But here's the big news for Shrewsbury drivers:
It's very possible that we'll be seeing a real-life, road-ready production of the Stinger sports car--multiple sources are sharing recent spy shots of a heavily-hooded but sleek vehicle.
Here's what Car Buzz had to say about the "Kia Stinger" trademark that the brand filed with the USPTO just a little while ago:
"If it does, it will take the Stinger name that should accurately describe the car’s attitude. Not only will the two-door sports car be small and light, but it will pack a punch. The two engine options are a 3.8-liter V6 good for 311 horsepower and 293 lb-ft of torque and a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 that will make a truly insane 362 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Like other Kias, the Stinger won’t be expensive although don’t expect bottom feeder prices. The entry-level engine will cost around $29,905 while the more powerful twin-turbo unit will start at $37,340."
Motor Authority estimates a reveal at the 2016 Paris Auto Show in late September, with a possible expectation of 2018 for road-ready models--but, we can't know for sure until Kia announces it themselves.
What do you think? Does the Stinger seem like a home run, or a hot mess? Let us know.
