It's no secret. At low temperatures, batteries become less efficient. Not only that, but they'll take longer to recharge when you're out and about. A quick 15-minute charge to get your battery at 80 percent can double its time. And you don't want to spend thirty minutes waiting for your car battery to recharge in those cold Boston and Shrewsbury winters. And you won't have to with the Kia EV6.

Improved Battery Design, Better Efficiency

The EV6 is made for cold-weather cities. So, when the temperature drops in Westborough, you can still experience quick charging convenience at home or in public places. The EV6 includes a battery heating system that controls the battery temperature.

A temperature-rising heater is located outside the high-voltage battery. It heats up the cooling antifreeze to increase the battery's temperature. This mechanism will eliminate your electric vehicle's slow, lagging charge in the winter months. That means, no matter if you're in the middle of January or the middle of July, your vehicle will still maintain fast charging capability.

And with the Kia EV6, you can activate this feature with winter mode. Winter mode will initiate your battery warmth and assist with driving and charging performance during winter months. But keep in mind that winter mode uses electricity. So, the mileage per charge may decrease. It's best to initiate winter mode right before fast charging your vehicle.
